With the emphasis on sustainable and environmental solutions, Land & Water has developed numerous solutions to river and lake bank erosion
Hard Revetments: Using a variety of proprietary products Land & Water provides a full range of permanent revetments.
In high energy environments, it is often a necessity to provide a durable and robust revetment solution; from vertical walls to sloped revetments.
Vertical walls can be achieved using sheet or timber piles, conventional masonry walls, or cellular wall systems. Where these requirements are against watercourses or even below the water line, they become a revetment.
Sloped or graded revetments are generally lower impact and of lower cost than a vertical equivalent. Where land is available for this solution, Rip-Rap, Gabion, concrete or open stone asphalt solutions can be used.

Soft Revetments: By introducing a number of “soft” and “living” revetments, sustainable and durable solutions for erosion control to watercourses and open water-bodies can be achieved.
Soft revetments use sustainably sourced materials as their primary products, and offer malleable and flexible solutions for erosion control. Vertical edges are formed using timber poles and “Nicospan” (a woven geo-fabric retaining structure) or faggot and willow bundles. Pre-grown coir mattresses and rolls with local provenance plant species are used to provide an instant living aquatic margin, and in high energy environments, gabion baskets, mattresses and reinforced soil structures offer additional strength and durability.
As always, Land & Water ensures the habitat left behind is more durable and of greater bio-diversity than the one inherited.
Vegetation Management: Using state of the art equipment with a fully trained, expert workforce and supply chain, Land & Water offer a wide range of ecological and habitat services.
Key activities in this sector include; aquatic weed control and weed cutting, vegetation management, watercourse clearance and out-source watercourse maintenance.
Weed and aquatic vegetation management is conducted with long reach excavators equipped with weed mowers and rakes or “Truxor” amphibious wed cutter and collection machines.
Vegetation management at macro-scale is carried out using tractor mounted side-arm or front mounted flails, low-centre of gravity reform tractors, or floating, amphibious or land based excavators. Tree and scrub clearance is conducted using tree shears or heavy duty flails.
Micro-scale vegetation management, uses highly trained and accredited operators, equipped with strimmers and mechanised cutting equipment.
