The introduction of coir to riverbanks and lakesides has enabled for the first time effective erosion solutions using plants as the main ingredient.

The Pre established coir products supplied by Terraqua Environmental Solutions provide a two phased solution to erosion control.

The coir itself has superb energy absorption qualities.

The installed coir roll or edge sod immediately goes to work removing the energy of the water whether from flow or lapping, providing protection to the eroding banks behind.The introduction of healthy, mature plants, ready to continue growing down into the substrate is the second phase of the solution.

The plants in the coir roll are hardy, well established and generally of a size that is less attractive for wildfowl grazing.

These plants root down within the first week ensuring the root matrix bonds the substrate and ensures rapid colonization of the surrounding area.

By the time the coir has rotted down over a period of 3 – 5 years the emergent plant growth has created a dense natural buffer, removing water energy and protecting the banks behind.
