Canal restoration work at Wallbridge has won a major national award for the Cotswold Canals Partnership. Works carried out by Land & Water Services to restore Wallbridge Upper Lock formed part of the winning project which also included the new Stroud Brewery Bridge, the Canal Visitor Centre, the Lock Keeper’s Cafe and the general upgrading of the area. On completion of the Lock refurbishment Stroud District Council’s Canal Contract Manager said “Please pass on our thanks to all of your (Land and Water) team for an absolutely brilliant job, it is appreciated by all here”.
The ‘Wallbridge Project’ won the Partnership category of the 2012 Waterway Renaissance Awards handed out at the event held in Birmingham last week. Land & Water representative at the award dinner, Jayne Hornsby commented “ a huge cheer went up from all the representatives present when the winner was announced. The award is testimony to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved with this extremely worthwhile project, we are all delighted and very proud to be part of the scheme!”
