Land & Water Plant, which runs Europe’s largest hire fleet of long reach excavators, has married together a hydraulic clam shell grab with a JS380 to enable shafts as deep as 25 metres to be dug.
Bringing together long-reach excavators with a traditional digging grab has lead to shafts being sunk at twice the speed and half the cost on a shaft sinking project near Ipswich for Barhale Construction.
By not having to crane a small excavator into the hole to load crane skips with material the project has been completed within 4 weeks, rather than the expected eight.
Dan Coleman, the project site agent for Barhale said, “From a practical perspective this combination of plant has performed beyond our expectation. We have completed the project under budget and well within the timescale set.”
Richard Maclean, Director, Land & Water Plant said, “We have worked closely with Barhale over the last few months to come up with a solution that is both high productive and cost effective, and we are delighted that this combination has proved so successful.” |
