Algae Treatment

Algae Control

Part of Land & Water's commitment to the total restoration of watercourses is the treatment of algae.

Algal blooms are part of an increasing problem in a vast number of watercourses. Factors including intensive farming, increased housing density and associated runoff plus the general warming of the climate all contribute towards an environment that encourages algal growth.

Algal blooms cause extensive changes within the ecosystem of waterways, which can easily create an imbalance and will result in a eutrophic state.

Algae grows in water that is rich in Nitrates and Phosphates and this combined with warm water and sunlight will invariably result in blooms.

Land & Water is the sole distributor of an effective solution to algae control. Liquid Live Micro Organism (LLMO) is a bacterium that solely feeds on the Nitrates and Phosphates in the water thus cutting the food chain that contriubtes to algae growth.

LLMO is easily cultured over a 2-week period with minimal requirements. At the end of this period the mixture is added to the lake and the process repeated every 2 weeks. A standard dosing covers a period of 8 weeks

Once applied the LLMO bacteria is an essential part of the annual maintenance cycle for your lakes. It is successfully used in private lakes and trout fisheries throughout the country with customers such as Albury Estate and Chalk Springs Fisheries. LLMO is also used increasingly in the municipal lake market with satisfied clients such as Newent Borough Council and Syon Park in London.

Land & Water offer a complete service from assessment and water sampling to the supply and all training required to combat algal growth.
