Sediments and silts

Sediments and silts are found in rivers, canals, lakes, ponds, reservoirs, lagoons, flood storage ponds and tanks.

When dredging is required it is usually for one of two reasons, maintenance dredging or capital dredging, although environmental dredging also takes place when contaminated sediments and sludges require removal as part of remediation project or water quality improvement project.

The company’s expertise has been developed through the ever-increasing need to remove and dispose of contaminated sediments in rivers, canals, lakes, lagoons and harbours.

Working closely with other group companies Land & Water Remediation has an innovative approach to the application of specialist knowledge and plant to offer cost effective solutions to clients.

All of the specialised plant the company operates holds Environment Agency (EA) or Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) Waste Management Licences for mobile plant together with several UK and European patents for sludge and soil treatment.

The licensed mobile plant enables us to provide on-site solutions using processes and plant already approved by the Environment Agency and SEPA.

On-site treatment reduces the time to mobilise and avoids or minimises disposal and transport costs.

To deliver treatment and reuse or disposal solutions, Land & Water Remediation owns and operates a number of highly specialised plants.

These include transportable soil & sludge treatment plants, excavator mounted mixers and screens and modified plant, equipped with scrubbed air ventilation for the safe operation of equipment in hazardous environments.
