Land & Water Group honoured by Telegraph 1000 list of top British Businesses
Friday, September 30th, 2011
Guildford: Sept 30th 2011. Local company Land & Water Group has been named in the Telegraph 1,000’s list of Britain’s Brightest Businesses 2011.
The list is a celebration of the top 1,000 mid-sized companies that have not only weathered the UK’s economic storm but look set to play a key part in the recovery.
The Land & Water Group comprises five key divisions specialising in marine based civil engineering, dredging and remediation projects. The Group has headquarters in the Surrey Hills with a regional office in the Midlands.
The report commissioned by the Telegraph is seen as an annual litmus test of progressive mid-sized companies and partnerships with sales of between £5m and £500m. Many are growing quickly, others are doing so more slowly, often sustained over many years. It means young gazelles sit alongside long-established companies that have found new and innovative ways to grow.
The research was compiled by NESTA (National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts), the independent innovation agency and business information specialist, Dun & Bradstreet (D&B).
Roger Hodson, UK managing director at D&B said: “D&B is proud to be contributing to The Telegraph’s initiative of identifying firms that are not just surviving, but thriving in the current economic climate. It is often too easy to concentrate on the negatives – increased business failures, reduced profits, weakened financial strength, lengthened payment terms – and forget that many companies in the UK have faced up to the challenges, and with nimble and brave thinking have put their businesses in a great position to seize the opportunities that exist out there.”
Land & Water Group Chairman, Richard Melhuish, commented “We are delighted to be listed in the Telegraph 1000. Land & Water Group business have been steadily building over the past decade and we pride ourselves on continually reviewing our focus, operations and procedures to maximise our long term value. With a broad client base and a diverse but related range of services we reach out to provide a single supplier solution to any aquatic based engineering problem”.
