Celebrating Managing Director, Adrian Gascoyne

Celebrating Land & Water Services’ Managing Director, Adrian Gascoyne, on his 21st work anniversary

We can officially say that Land & Water Services’ Managing Director, Adrian Gascoyne, has received his key to the Land & Water door after turning 21 (in work years!).

Adrian has been part of the Land & Water team since the very early days and he’s had an incredible impact on our business since joining back in 1999. And what a journey it’s been… During his time with us, we’ve thrived, grown, innovated and developed into one of the leading wet civil engineering firms in the UK – and he has played an extremely important role in our success.

So, we’re marking this impressive occasion by celebrating all things Adrian – and highlighting some of the pivotal moments he’s shared with us over the past 21 years…

1999, and the few years that followed, were really interesting for Land & Water Group. This was when the business heads were deciding strategically how its companies would interact, where the core strengths lay and how growth could be achieved (usually over a good meal and the odd beer).

Adrian was part of this and played an intrinsic role in laying the foundations for how the Group operates today.

Adrian started his journey with Land & Water as Commercial Manager, swiftly moving up the ranks to Group Commercial Director as he showed commitment and passion towards the company’s commercial excellence.

During this position he collaborated with the various business heads across Group to provide commercial support and guidance for individual companies, potential acquisitions and contractual issues.

His partnering with Finance, you could say, is one of his ‘stand out’ moments after successfully co-project managing the implementation of an entire new reporting system for the Group.

This couldn’t have been achieved without his support.

In fact, there are countless times when Adrian’s collaborative thinking has produced innovative results.

He was involved in the construction industry’s ground-breaking “Partnering Contracts”, which has helped develop open relationships with our larger clients.

He’s been an intrinsic part of the success of Land & Water Remediation at Rainham Marshes, strategically managing the commercial aspects of the project whilst also being at the forefront of behavioural and sustainable change as the business looks to become carbon neutral.

Today, Adrian is Managing Director of Land & Water Services, a role where he has built a strong senior management team and introduced more strategic planning which has seen the company grow from strength to strength.

Like all businesses, Land & Water Group has faced challenging times, had to navigate testing contracts and needed to overcome growing pains. However it is in these times that Adrian’s resolve has truly come to light. His ability to be resilient and remain calm and considered under pressure has helped the group navigate choppy waters and emerge stronger.

His supportive nature and leadership qualities have also gone a long way with his colleagues and team members, particularly throughout the challenges brought about by 2020.

He’s passionate about nurturing young talent, so with his support four apprentices have recently started with us, and he is also committed to creating a better workplace for all.

His strong, ‘stay calm’ leadership has helped steer us through some challenging times, particularly this year as we navigate through the Covid-19 crisis, with many now referring to him as the ‘rock’ of Land & Water.

A genuinely nice chap, a great peer and sounding board, a true people person, a natural leader.

What a successful 21 years you have had at Land & Water Adrian, it’s been a pleasure for us all to work with you. Thank you!
