Cutter suction dredging uses a floating pump with an agitator to suck materials from the bed of the waterway.
Water is added to dilute the sediment and create a mixture that can be pumped over long distances through controlled pipelines. The mixture is discharged to a settling lagoon or de-watering facility where the water separates and can be returned to the watercourse. The sediment is captured and retained for re-use. If a Geobag is used, the sediment can be kept in the bags and re-used for construction and soft revetments.
